Glassy behaviour in a simple topological model

چکیده

In this article we study a simple, purely topological, cellular model which is allowed to evolve through a Glauber process. We find a non-thermodynamic transition to a glassy phase in which the energy (defined as the square of the local cell topological charge) fails to reach the equilibrium value below a critical temperature Tc, and depends strongly on cooling rate. We investigate a correlation function which exhibits aging behaviour, and follows a master curve in the stationary regime when time is rescaled by a factor of the relaxation time tr. This master curve can be fitted by a von Schweidler law in the late β-relaxation regime. The relaxation times can be well-fitted at all temperatures by an offset Arrhenius law. A power law can be fitted to an intermediate temperature regime; the exponent of the power law and the von Schweidler law roughly agree with the relationship predicted by Mode-coupling Theory. By defining a suitable response function, we find that the fluctuation dissipation ratio is held until sometime later than the appearance of the plateaux; non-monotonicity of the response is observed after this ratio is broken, a feature which has been observed in other models with dynamics involving activated processes.

Glassy behaviour in a 3-state spin model

In this paper we study a simple spin model which has a non-interacting Hamiltonian but constrained dynamics. The model, which is a simplification of a purely topological cellular model (Davison L and Sherrington D 2000 J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 33 8615, Aste T and Sherrington D 1999 J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 32 7049), displays glassy behaviour, involves activated processes and exhibits two-step relax...

A SIMPLE ALGORITHM FOR COMPUTING TOPOLOGICAL INDICES OF DENDRIMERS

Dendritic macromolecules’ have attracted much attention as organic examples of well-defined nanostructures. These molecules are ideal model systems for studying how physical properties depend on molecular size and architecture. In this paper using a simple result, some GAP programs are prepared to compute Wiener and hyper Wiener indices of dendrimers.

Topological Relationship Between One-Dimensional Box Model and Randić Indices in Linear Simple Conjugated Polyenes

The alternative double bonds and conjugation in the polyene compounds are one of the main properties in these compounds. Each carbon-carbon bonds in a polyene compound along the chain has appreciable double-bond character. The p-electrons are therefore not localized but are relatively free to move throughout the entire carbon skeleton as an one-dimensional box. The skeleton be considered as a r...

Modelling of Stress-Strain Behaviour of Clayey Soils Using Artificial Neural Network

In this research, behaviour of clayey soils under triaxial loading is studied using Neural Network. The models have been prepared to predict the stress-strain behaviour of remolded clays under undrained condition. The advantage of the model developed is that simple parameters such as physical characteristics of soils like water content, fine content, Atterberg limits and so on, are used to mode...
